Spontaneous words and worship of the Holy Spirit
In this deposit of the Holy Spirit the spontaneous is arising. You may have heard some of the beautiful song that is wonderfully deep. It is beautiful and fearful to every leader who is self dependent. I am giving thought to preaching of the word in such times. When in the prophetic one word can run deep in us and unlock much. To an observer it is just a word but to the recipient it is a new dimension of revelation. Jesus knew this with His sermon on the mount which in my opinion is a talk in the Spirit, maybe that would be a better description. It is made of one liners that changed lives. One word, one phrase, one snippet and we are change forever. “blessed are the pure in heart they shall see God” If we are spontaneous in our singing and worship then it raises the problem. Why do we always have so much to say, we talk and talk to try and convince when in reality all Jesus did was to talk to impart. If there is no Holy Spirit in you a long triage is needed as the impartation is natural not Spiritual. Of course there are times to share all night as Peter did. But let’s face it someone fell asleep and out the window even on him.
I love good preaching from an anointed preacher but the problem today is there is so much hot air and so many expounding their inflated ideas that they often fail to find the Holy Spirit words that run deep. I like that expression “still waters run deep” or as my father often said empty drums make the most noise. People are attracted to noise they love it and draw a false security from noise thinking noise means something is happening. Like the people who cannot be at home without the TV running in the background. The silence is deafening to many, to the world we live in but in the silence I hear a phrase a few words that bring me much comfort on one hand, and great distress on another. The phrase could be said this way ”be still and know that I am God”
As our spontaneous singing is for now what would occur if our spontaneous God words were for now. Where the preacher fell out of love with his own voice and only spoke when spoken to. Such a preacher would have a divine courage. Sure he may talk for hours or impart for moments. The programs we have set up in our hearts and heads would be shattered as we wrestle with the changing and shifting norm around us. Such a man would stop pressing God for sermons He can bless with and would start to empty himself. Such a one would probably admit as enjoyable as his sermon has been, maybe and just maybe it is time to “be still and know that I am God” You see words will come but they will most likely be few.
As I continue to position myself to walk and try to live and be the book of Acts I understand the book of Acts is not a book that can be taught it must be caught. We have taught it for so long and only touched onto the fact it needs to be caught. It is not just about speaking in tongues it is a lifestyle of the Holy Spirit that unless you catch, receive, digest, ingest, absorb, exude, attract, soak up, we have nothing but a religious system, we are asking God to bless. I like what one man of the Holy Spirit recently said to me
The track you are on is both painfully simple and desperately difficult. Painfully simple because it works so well.. Desperately difficult as we have centuries of history and tradition, not to mention job stability, budgets, and microphone holders to overcome. Who will be the boss? Where will I get my sense of worth from? You know all too well the rest of the nonsense.
How does one put this in a “package” and deliver it in twenty minute lectures? Most will say it is too hard to teach the sheep the simple life of dependence on God.
You may get stoned for these ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ah the joys of working with precious church members who want more but don’t know how to get there.
We seem to be having lots of contact with the pre-believers. So refreshing.

“Be still and know that I am God”
we act as a channel of impartation from the Holy Ghost to people, saved and unsaved alike. Sometimes we are called to teach and not preach and that is where I see the distinction. Preaching is to make yourself available, await the Holy Ghost to tell you something and impart that to those around you, teaching is more about summarizing a study of certain biblical principles and requires planning and study. I accept everything you say and might even use some of it if teaching!!!! Both can be hot air and both can be anointed.(John Lyon)
