“Acts Deposit” what is it?
My sister is being dumped or spat out by the system currently and as hard as they may be on them I am rejoicing at the fact I see God drawing them closer by destroying their artificial world of a church system. He is being drawn to the “Acts deposit” (church the way it’s supposed to be) though like all of us are struggling at times to come to terms with what that looks like.
Some thoughts in my understanding at this moment. Not a new bible, just for me a new understanding on the old bible and the more I live this the more the bible fits or rather I fit the bible. I am sure some can find holes in the following. Right away I am not interested in what their spirit says. I am interested in hole fillers not hole diggers. People with the Holy Spirit teaching gift who have caught the Holy Spirit deposit and bring life, I want to hear from. They are not trying to conform what God is doing to fit into their head box or a box called church to be controlled. The Spirit is not taught it is caught. You cannot teach the book of Acts you must catch the book of Acts. Teach it and you have modern church, catch it and you have Acts and all that follows.
To me a pastor now goes to the people not vice versa. He would move throughout the meeting places in an area or city that is on his heart and within his area of influence. No longer convincing but merely loving and moving on. To some places he may never return as he is now seeing the church as the city. The places of meeting within that city as just points of contact with the people. He is Spirit led turning up at meetings he never knew existed and maybe never existed until he walked in, God positions such a pastor. He flows in the gifts, as if he does not he never finds the meeting places as there is no list, no circuit just spontaneous church spread throughout a city. If the city is the church building then everyone in it sits in the building waiting for their time.
All the fivefold ministry works in such a Spirit way with differing expression. Then some say well where is the accountability. Acts shows us it is relational and to the leaders appointed by the anointing on their lives. Such men do not look to own, merely like Paul they desire to keep the church from the soul or flesh like in Corinth. So what about false actions well I think the best ones to ask would be Ananias and Saphira. They got a fast lesson on disrespecting the anointing. The more we are seeing this happen we find that those who are noisy gongs or attention seekers are in fear to speak as the demon or flesh is in fear of the anointing.
So what about tithes? People have the responsibility to give where the Holy Spirit leads. Yes they will and need to give to those who are serving them but also to the needs of the saints. The responsibility is on the saint to hear where and when to give. Paul does talk about giving to help and in his case mentions that he took nothing from them but he does say to support those who labor over you. If we give to the leaders inside the move of God then like the apostles they distribute as any have need. But the saint also has responsibility to hear God in such.
In all we as believers do, the Holy Spirit is now the lifestyle and is central. He is the hub, the leader, the head and in that only those who have caught the Holy Spirit are able to flow in what is going on. Sure some want the deceptive ease of church at a certain time in a certain place but I am learning that while that is not wrong it is not a Holy Spirit lifestyle. For us we have done some meetings at the YWAM building here. As they have kept happening they have now placed a slot in their schedule, that works for them. That is not wrong, but the more the Holy Spirit moves the less our schedule matters. That meeting is not central but merely another outflow. Around that many other places begin to open up, they do not connect other than through the Holy Spirit.
Many of these meetings are one off meetings. We are finding some places become focal points and repeated meetings occur, but the people seem to constantly change as nobody recruits people to return. If they catch the Holy Spirit and what He is doing they seek out. They chase and like the first time many were baptized in the Holy Spirit the lights came on and the world became a different place. Such believers now get faced with a decision. Do they want a Holy Spirit lifestyle or to do church somewhere, whether that be a home or building. It disturbs some to realize they are no longer being converted to a church but rather to a lifestyle. As in that lifestyle we must take responsibility to hear God for ourselves. Some have felt the touch and tried to plant a home church not really different to a regular church. But they fizz slowly as that is not where God is moving. You cannot make a formula from a lifestyle nor can you come to just feed at the barn and leave. Sure some do that but once you have tasted the new wine there is nothing that tastes quite the same.
Some say, what about new believers where do they fit? Often I am finding they hear God better that the seasoned. They seem to be drawn to the places to meet and the mobile pastors are there to pick them up and walk a few miles with them. These mobile pastors see a bigger picture and as leaders and visionaries they help the new believer find a family who will help them on their journey. They are led to Phoebe’s house.
Some have said such a way of doing things will disappear it is a flash in the pan. To that I say the flash of the book of Acts was so bright we are still seeing it’s glow. That flash is in fact a raging fire that will never go out this side of eternity.
